Teen Council
About
Vashon Teen Council combines public health, healthy sexuality, and social change to create an effective and important prevention program. Teen Council (TC) is a national award-winning youth peer education program developed and tested by Planned Parenthood. It is also a pilot project of The DOVE Project in that DOVE’s Teen Council is the first non-Planned Parenthood run TC in the United States. Teen Council members create social change through advocacy and in their schools and communities. The work they do helps build a healthier community. The ultimate goal of education about youth violence is to stop teen dating violence before it begins. During the preteen and teen years, young people are learning the skills they need to form positive, healthy relationships with others, and it is an ideal time to promote healthy relationships and prevent patterns of teen dating violence that can last into adulthood.
